Director of Golf Course Maintenance and Construction

Ray Davies, a veteran turfgrass manager joined CourseCo in 1996. He has been a golf course superintendent since 1984 and has risen to a position of leadership in his field.

A 1984 graduate of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, with a major in ornamental horticulture and a minor in small business management, Ray currently is a member of the USGA Green Section Committee, the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America Membership Resources Group and the Editorial Advisory Committee of Golf Course News.

He was president of the California Golf Course Superintendents Association from 1991-92; twice president of the Southern California Golf Course Superintendents Association; and president of the Southern California Turfgrass Council from 1993-94. In 1998 he received the prestigious Environmental Steward award from the Golf Course Superintendents of America.

Ray has written for publications such as the United States Golf Association Green Section Record, FORE magazine, Golf Course News and California Fairways. He has taken part in numerous professional seminars for groups such as the Golf Course Superintendents of America, the University of California Extension Seminar Series, the USGA, the California Association of Pest Control Advisors, the Pesticide Applicators Professional Association, and the California Water Reuse Association. He is the principal leader of CourseCo's ground breaking Oakland Turf Education Initiative and the firm's environmental management program.
