Because golf courses are large consumers of land and water, they are highly visible in the community. CourseCo believes it is imperative that a golf course be involved in outreach programs that set a strong example of environmental management.
Non-golf organizations such as the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley, the Redwood Community Action Agency, the California Waterfowl Association, California Trout, the Wildlife Habitat Council, the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, the Boy Scouts of America, the Bluebird Society, local Audubon Societies, and the San Joaquin Parkway Trust have taken part in, or benefited from, environmental programs at CourseCo-managed golf facilities.
Currently underway is a major community effort spearheaded by CourseCo and supported with a grant from the California Coastal Conservancy to restore a Wetland in Humboldt County. The project is described in an article in Golf Journal (January-February 2003 edition).
