Golf Course Management and Development Company Recipient of Prestigious Governor's Award

PETALUMA – CourseCo, Inc, the largest golf course management and development company in Northern California, is one of only four recipients of the 2003 Governor's Environmental and Economic Leadership Award in the category of Sustainable Practices. There are 24 award winners in all. The award honors California organizations dedicated to environmental protection, resource conservation and economic progress. CourseCo is the first golf-affiliated organization to earn the award.

"The award affirms that our work has public value, which is deeply gratifying." said CourseCo President Tom Isaak. "It further affirms that the expense and tremendous leadership effort of our superintendents, the primary implementers of these programs, is worthwhile."

CourseCo's dedication to environmentally sound practices, a priority on each of its 12 golf courses, caught the eye of the California Environmental Protection Agency and earned CourseCo this award. Some of the practices CourseCo is being honored for include water reuse and conservation, integrated pest management-chemical application management plan (IPM-CHAMP), construction and preservation of native plant and animal habitats, and public education about environmental practices.
