George Winters
Director of Agronomy

George currently serves as Director of Agronomy and is based out of Las Positas Golf Course In Livermore, CA.  George is called on for regional support ranging from candidate searches and vetting, superintendent development and support , agronomic planning and education, oversight of the agronomic operations, development of environmental management programs and construction management.  His work takes him regularly to CourseCo-operated facilities to review and audit agronomic condition and maintenance practices and to consult with on-site staff and clients.  He works closely with CourseCo’s senior superintendents in development of environmental programs and practices and is a primary vector for the spread of best practices throughout the company.

George was born in Michigan but grew up in Chula Vista, CA and lived and worked most of his adult life in the San Diego area.  In 1990, he began his golf course maintenance career at Stardust Country Club, now the current site of Riverwalk Golf Club, in San Diego’s Mission Valley.  During his +30-year career, George has been the superintendent at ten properties, seven of which are in the San Diego area.  George was also the longest tenured superintendent in history at Brookside GC at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena Ca.  George had been interviewed and featured multiple times on TurfNet.com for his accomplishments at Brookside GC.  In 2005 he received the “Come Back Course of the Decade Award” from the San Diego Union Tribune for his work at Mission Trails GC in San Carlos.

When he’s not hard at work, some of George’s hobbies include painting, traveling and of course, golf.  George has two wonderful sons who live in the San Diego area, and he is very proud of all their accomplishments.
