Matt Pennington
Senior Operations Manager

As a Senior Operations Manager for CourseCo, Matt currently oversees multiple courses within our portfolio. Originally joining the company in 2019, Matt was the General Manager of both Pacific Grove Golf Links and Laguna Seca Golf Ranch in Monterey. After two years, Matt was promoted to his current duties in early 2021. In his current role, Matt provides oversight for four properties to ensure all operating objectives are met at his region's golf courses. In addition to operational oversight, Matt is also responsible for construction management in his region.

Growing up in Milpitas, California, his passion for golf started at a young age, as he lived behind the fourth hole at Summitpointe Golf Course, where he would eventually take his first job in golf. After receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from San Jose State, Matt spent 21 years with American Golf, where he earned his first General Manager position at Monarch Bay Golf Club in San Leandro, CA, before transferring to Mission Trails in San Diego. This career arc eventually led him to take his current job with CourseCo and moving "back home" to the Monterey Peninsula.

In addition to his rapid move up the corporate organizational chart at two different management companies, Matt has also shown an ability to manage large and complex projects. His organizational skills, attention to detail, and vision of the big picture give him a unique ability to manage large construction projects with minimal impact on daily operations. Some of these projects include the conversion of a small-scale food and beverage service to a service-friendly, permanent food truck service at Mission Trails Golf Course and a complete clubhouse remodel, including the construction of a new wedding and banquet facility at Laguna Seca.

Matt currently lives on the Monterey Peninsula with his wife Katie and their two sons. He enjoys short weekend trips with his family and golfing when possible. He also enjoys time at the baseball field, both watching the pros and the pros-to-be (his kids!).
