We’re thrilled to share some exciting national recognition for CourseCo superintendents who continue to set the standard for environmental excellence in golf.
The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) has announced its 2025 Environmental Leaders in Golf Awards, and several CourseCo leaders — along with our industry peers — have been honored for their commitment to sustainability, community impact, and innovative environmental practices.
Natural Resource Conservation Award – Winner Justin Brimley, Crystal Springs Golf Course (Burlingame, CA) Justin and his team have expanded over 20 acres of native habitat corridors adjacent to a major drinking water reservoir, restored pollinator spaces, and protected wildlife habitats — all while maintaining exceptional playing conditions.
Communication & Outreach Award – Second Runner-Up Carl Thompson, CGCS, Columbia Point Golf Course (Richland, WA) Carl was recognized for his outstanding community engagement — hosting educational programs, partnering with local schools, and sharing sustainability practices that connect the public to golf’s environmental story.
Natural Resource Conservation Award – Second Runner-Up Robert Esposo, Pacific Grove Golf Links (Pacific Grove, CA) Robert’s dedication to habitat restoration and water conservation earned national recognition for his creative and resourceful management practices along the California coast.
Healthy Land Stewardship Award – First Runner-Up Jorge Mendoza, Green River Golf Club (Corona, CA) Jorge was honored for his exceptional stewardship initiatives, championing habitat protection and environmentally conscious agronomic practices that strengthen the long-term health of the landscape.
Healthy Land Stewardship Award – Second Runner-Up Michael Bednar, Palouse Ridge Golf Club (Pullman, WA) Michael’s forward-thinking land management strategies and commitment to ecological balance earned him recognition for contributing to healthier, more resilient golf course environments.
These honors highlight what makes CourseCo so special — talented, passionate superintendents leading the way in environmental stewardship, innovation, and community connection across our portfolio.
Please join us in congratulating Justin, Carl, Robert, Jorge, and Michael for representing CourseCo and their communities with such distinction. Your leadership and commitment to sustainability inspire us all!
