PLEASANTON, CA – Callippe Preserve Golf Course has achieved designation as a "Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary" by the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System (ACSS), the educational division of Audubon International. Dave Davies CGCS, Superintendent, led the effort to obtain sanctuary status on this course and is being recognized for Environmental Stewardship by Audubon International. Callippe Preserve Golf Course is the 43rd course in California and the 602nd in the world to receive the honor.

"Callippe Preserve Golf Course has shown a strong commitment to its environmental program. They are to be commended for their efforts to provide a sanctuary for wildlife on the golf course property," said Jeremy Taylor, Staff Ecologist for the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Programs.
"To reach certification, a course must demonstrate that they are maintaining a high degree of environmental quality in a number of areas," explained Taylor. These categories include; Environmental Planning, Wildlife & Habitat Management, Outreach and Education, Chemical Use Reduction and Safety, Water Conservation, and Water Quality Management.

"The design of environmental enhancements by Brian Costello, ASGCA, as well as the City of Pleasanton's commitment to the environment resulted in the environmental enhancement of the golf course," states Dave Davies, CGCS. In addition, CourseCo, the golf course management firm that operates Callippe, has proven their environmental dedication by achieving "Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary" designation at 10 of its golf courses which equates to 23% of certified courses in California. "The golf course and trails are wonderful amenities for our residents and visitors, and truly showcase the natural beauty of Pleasanton. This is an asset of which the community of Pleasanton can be extremely proud," said Mayor Jennifer Hosterman.
