Rod Metzler was the Founder and CEO of Empire Golf, Inc. Since 1987, under his direction, Empire Golf had successfully grown into a regionally based golf course management company in Northern California.
In 2018 CourseCo acquired the majority interest in Empire Golf and Rod joined the management team at CourseCo. Rod has been involved in all phases of the golf industry for the past 45 years. His experience includes facility ownership, leasing, club management, contract management, design, construction management of both existing and new facilities, as well as new course development. Rod has been a Class “A” member of the PGA of America since 1978 and has received numerous personal awards for his accomplishments and expertise in the golf industry. He was named the Northern California PGA Professional of the Year in 1994, as well as Northern California PGA Private Club Merchandiser of the Year in 1986. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Northern California PGA, and currently is on the Board of the California Golf Course Owners Association.
Rod and his wife Carlene live in Sacramento and have 4 sons and 5 grandchildren. He enjoys playing golf, traveling, hiking, and wine tasting
